The police operation in Istanbul was coordinated by the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and executed by the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Combatting Branch. The suspects are accused of a range of serious crimes, including:
Targeted Raids on Safe Houses
The early morning raids targeted addresses in Istanbul's Gaziosmanpaşa, Eyüpsultan, and Sultangazi districts, as well as in Yalova. These locations were identified as safe houses for the criminal organization where suspects were hiding. The synchronized nature of the operation prevented the suspects from alerting each other.
Protecting Citizen Safety and Security
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that the primary goal of such operations is to ensure the peace and security of citizens. He stated that the activities of these "city bandits" have been prevented from causing further harm to the public. The minister encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activity to the 112 Emergency Call Center, assuring them that authorities will take necessary action. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to not allowing any organized crime group to disrupt the nation's peace.
